2012 myth: An alignment of planets in our galaxy, the Milky Way, could revers the Earth's rotational or disrupt the Earth's gravitational field.
Fact: A reversal in the rotation of Earth is impossible. It has never happened and never will. It would be like a basketball that is spinning on somebody's finger suddenly stopping and going the other way.
With regard to the Earth's gravitational field, the magnetic polarity of Earth does take place around every 400,000 years but scientists don't believe it will take place for another few millennia and there is no evidence it would do any harm.
2012 film
2012 myth: The film '2012' is a warning sign or prediction that the world is due to end shortly.
Fact: The film uses a sophisticated PR campaign which incorporates elements of 'viral' marketing. The trailer for the film plays on conspiracy theorists' fears that the truth is being somehow hidden by directing viewers to a 'faux scientific' website. Good facts, who knows what will happen exactly in 2012, but it is interesting that not only in mayan culture but many all over the world believe something will happen in 2012 (strange coincedinces), the end of the world? unlikely, but something big is bound to happen but no one knows for sure , but you can't rule out that nothing will happen, its over 2 years away.

There has been multiple proofs for correct predictions made by Michael de Notre Dame. Saying there's no such proofs is a pseudo-sceptic worthless approach and a proof of your own set-in-stone, ignorant point of view.

Nathan, saying something exists generally needs proof. A calendar is just a way of keeping track of time. There are thousands of different calendars in the world. Nostradamus' predictions are based on imagery that can be applied to many different events.

Great hub...I completely agree with you. Except I just wanna say something about the change in rotation. Though it is impossible for the Earth to just change its rotation, it's completely possibly for it to change if it was hit by a large enough meteor. This has happened to Venus before.

The world will end in about 985 to 1005 years from now, somewhere between 2995 to 3015 A.D. Sorry for the 20 year gap of uncertainty, but none of us will be around to need a more specific date. I am working to publish my findings, but at the same time am worried about missing the deadline... December 21, 2012.

People have been predicting the end of the world long before 2012. Most of us still remember the 2000 and 2001 theories, but there are plenty of others that are less talked about. I'm not putting much stock in it. One day the world will end, but no one will have predicted it to a specific date.

Perhaps some ideas regarding the end end of the world are misguided. However, this planet is going to go through some very big changes. Our magnetic poles are well on their way into the process of inversion. If you understand what this process involves and the subsequent ramifications of this event. You can not deny some life altering events will occur. The question of course still remains the same, When will this happens and how will it affect me? Do some basic research on this and understand what is going on. This event alone will change life as we know know it.

I feel relieved to know that most of the theories are fake, especially the one of Nostradamus, I've been told that all his prophecies were true, and he also foresaw the exact date of it happening.

I have a small number of points, slightly mixed. Peple have a vivid imagination, that causes progress. People read science novels, watch television movies and read articles. They are slowly becoming infected by ideas and illusions. They are not controlling their imaginations.

DARING WORLD ENDED 2012
Life on this planet could come to an end but it won't. Here's why; one meteor, millions of years ago crashed into the earth and kicked up enough dust into the atmosphere that it blocked out the sun. Vegetation died and so did the animals that fed on it, thus the carnivors did because their was was no meat. Earth has been around and been hit with just about every catastrophe that you could imagine; it's still here. How many times have we been hit with meteors, solar flares, diseases (like the black plague), and whatever else you would like to think of. The flares will, I believe, damage us to some degree, just make sure you have plenty of food. We'll get hit with the flares but we won't all die. OH!!! When it happens just stay inside your home away from the sun's rays which you should anyway. Enjoy the spectacular show the sun is going to give us.

They r stockpiling plant life and whatever else in some big storage facility and new England has already started with weird weather occurrences 2 tornados a hurricane an earthquake and now major snowstorm before the end of October. For example-:If we will keep account of our past then mayans calendor have predicted many things which have prooved correct like-: Occurence of tsunami, Indo-Pak war,etc.I am not saying its prediction have went all the the time right,its prediction have also went wrong but again the two more possibilities come into existence i.e Nostradamus and Nibru theory. The Writings of the Nostradamous theory may be vague but again if we see our past, its Writing when decoded have prooved correct. So we can't neglect all of the above.If one's prediction is wrong then how could we expect that the other will also be wrong.

1. Tectonics Plates, movement between them can create massive earthquake, tsunami, land slides etc. And these days it happens almost everyday, no one need an example.
2. Ice Age III, Human being cannot survive this long term climate change and as per scientific calculation we are not far away from this.(Proved Scientific reasons).
3. Global Warming, this rapidly changing climate can create a massive and major disaster on coming days in which human being may not survive.

5. World War III, means Nuclear war between counties creating massive number of mass killing, global warming change in earth movement etc.

So all of you are so relieved that apparently the world will not end in 2012. You are all reading a post by ONE person, showing absolutely no evidence of his or her claims, only claiming that there is no SCIENTIFIC evidence that the world will end. I am not saying it will, I dont claim to have all the answers and anyone who does is a nut sack. This is the unanswerable question, just like why are we here and does god exist, so dont just blindly believe everything you hear, especially on a subject like this!. Some points I can clarify slightly to the best of my ability are the mayan calendar and the Nostradamus part, and I'm only reciting what I have seen in my personal research. The mayan calendar is a calendar of the ages, we are in the age of man, the age of ego, and the age we move into on that date is the golden age or age of enlightenment, NOTHING to do with the "end of the world". Nostradamus' only had a small book of a few illustrated pages for that date, it first showed the way we are now with the 8 spoked wheel depicting the the galactic and universal crossing points and the passage of linear time and pages with written text depicting our written history. After that date the wheel is empty and the pages are blank. Do your own research, youtube is a plethora of information, and who knows what is true or not so take everything with a grain of salt. If the world were to end, what do you think would be the best way to spend your last days, living in fear of some crazy disaster as hollywood would have you believe or live in love and cherish every moment you have, loving your fellow man and bringing joy to all those around you? And yes Nostradamus did make correct predictions, the reason he became famous in the first place was by predicting exactly how the king of france at the time would die, by taking a shard of a jousting stick through his helmet and into his eye piercing the brain and killing him within I think 3 days. He wrote in code in almost poem like verses called quatrains to avoid being labeled as a heretic by the church and put to death. ok so, I have been searching on and on and trying to tell myself that the world won't end so that I could stop worrying and NOTHING absolutely NOTHING is helping. I have been so depressed and I am the mother of three growing children. My youngest being 6 months old. I don't want the world to end, I have so much to look forward to. I for one studied the mayan calander, and the mytholajist that claimed that in our time, the calender ends on 2012 got their math completely wrong, the calender went wayy past 3000's. But in my opinion, even that could be wrong. I am a believer of God, and according to the BIBLE, the world is coming to the end soon, BUT no one knows when that is going to happen, not even Jesus himself knows. We live in a world of fear through media and government. We are destroying the earth this much is true. There will always be disasters in the world with weather. I've been terrified ever since I first started hearing about this years ago. I've had time to think about what I would do in the event that something almost catastrophic happening and here goes- there's nothing that can be done if it is gods will. With all of the terrible things that the human race has put the world thru(oil spills, pollution, hate, crime, cruelty and so much more) I wouldn't blame god for being just a little pissed at us taking the beautiful gifts that he has given us for granted. I think(and of course this is just me) that the world was not meant to be divided by countries, states, counties and cities. That we(the human race)should not claim the world as our own, as we share it with so many other species. Who are we to say we own the land? I think the indians(in a sense) had it right. I can't wait to see how all those predicting the end of the world in 2012 will try to explain when NOTHING happens, and 2012 pass just as every other year has passed. Remember this posting and how I said that they will find every excuse for why the world did not end instead of just admitting they were wrong and had no idea what they were talking about in the first place. Even though the world will not end, they will find another reason that it will end next year or some other reason to be paranoid for the next five years, and when that does not happen they will find another. I have a theory. It has this thing with leap years. You see, the leap years didnt come into the calendar until the Roman Times, basically a few hundred years before the birth of christ. The Mayans date back thousands of years ago, meaning leap years didnt exist in their calendar. The one extra day every 4 years kinda puts the mayan calendar off track. But, counting how many leap years there have been since its addition to the calendar, there have been around 430 something leap years, meaning 430 somthing days have we are put forward. judging that from March 1st 2012, the calendar specifically ended 8 months before, meaning December 21st 2012 on the Mayan Calendar already happened back in June, and without leap years, the current estimated date would be August - September 2013. Im only 17 and I figured that out, hows that for a theory?

as far as were are all concerned the end of the world could be december. but not from some planet hitting us, or polar shifts... every country has god knows how many nukes aimed at everyone and the world most likely will end as soon as the big man pushes that button.. might not be december, might not be for another 50 years, but mankind is mankinds biggest fear, we will kill ourselves and make ourselves extinct.. we have some great governments controlling our lives .....-_- not. if theres one thing mankind knows.. its war.

NO ONE KNOWS THE DAY NOR HOUR Please folks, don't spend your "LIFES TIME" worrying about what is to come...We can't do anything about what happened yesterday,and we know not what will happen tomorrow..so live in the today of your life! God told us..Fear not..for very specific reasons..HE wants us to live out the precious lives HE'S given us. We are spiritual beings and will all return to Him. Take a breathe, and try to enjoy this world. He said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you!" THAT IS A PROMISE FROM GOD who IS the creator of ALL THINGS. God always,always is true to HIS word. We all make decisions what to believe in,I,PUT MY TRUST IN THE GOD WHO CREATED ALL THINGS! One thing He asks in return is, to Love Him!! Oh, He could have made us to automatically believe in Him..but He did not...why you may ask? One reason. He gave us Freewill because He wants us to love Him because we want to not because we HAVE TO. If you are a parent, you know that you want your children to love you for the same reason, because they want to. There are things that will happen to each of us here, however, worrying about 12-21-12, is NOT one of them. The mayan long count calendar theory is rubbish as the end of the calendar doesn't mean the end of the world but it is time for celebration as we have got through a whole long count calendar..!
The only catastrophe that's awkwardly "overdue" is the pole shift, which happens like clockwork every x-thousand years. Not the end of the world, just don't be at/within several hundred miles of the ocean...

The world is not gonna just end. There's lots of things to happen before it actually ends. No need to worry yourself about preparing food and water and tools. What you need to prepare is your soul. Make sure you in right standing with God. Whether you believe in God or not or you like it or not, there is a God and he made the heaven and the earth. Scientist....they dont believe in God, you know why? Cause they have no proof to show that God exist. So dumb!!!! Faith is the substance of things hope for evidence of things not seen. Its like your paycheck you havent seen your check yet but you know by month end you're gonna have your money. Well its the same with God. You cannot see him with you natural eyes but you can feel his presence. You can see him thru miracles, signs and wonders. If there was a BANG, where the bang came from? And what cause the bang? Bet you cant answer that. well for your info God created the earth. The almighty God who fill all space,time and eternity made the earth. He's just in a different dimension where you cannot see or contact him thru any man-made instrument. But he sees,hears,judge,curse and bless. He can do the impossible. Read your bible for Christ sake!! For eg.The doctor said that disease you have is incurable and then you are completely cured of that, you think thats just luck? Thats the hand of God. Yes there will be disasters,wars,catastrophes,etc. But I'm telling you the first sign to look for is the DEPRESSION!!! BANKRUPTCY!!! When the American dollar collapses and the Government has no solution be sure to know big things is about to happen. And yes the book of Revelation in the bible speaks of prophesies to come. Its written in dark sentences, types and parables. When Wall Street sneezes the whole world catches pneumonia! Remember paper is not money, Gold is!! Right now they are printing too much paper and they are in a lot of dept. When the dollar drop you money wont worth one single thing. You have to look up to one. Scientist is a bunch of heady liars and thinks they knows to blerdy much and needs to rest their brains a bit before it explores. I don't believe the world is goin to end 2012. Only GOD knows exactly when its gonna end and how He's gonna end it.
What if your someone who wants the world to end? One way or the other, that or maybe the world doesn't end but the human's world does? I say give another form of life a chance, we had ours and we didn't really do much with it!

Hey everyone listen up I'm 14years old and I don't believe the world will end in 2012. Use your brain here how many times have people said the world is ging to end and has it happened no. No one can predict when it will end only god knows and I'm pretty sure he would not just make the world end on 1 specific day it will take many years for the world to end. But there is something that will happen. A change this year is that people instead of paying money to buy foods and stuff the government is going to give us an option the first year of getting this chip put in our hand or head but the thing is after the year we wil have no option either we take the chip or get beatin to death or watch out family be tortured. If u take the chip u have basically givin your soul to the devil and will burn in hell for eternity Because the chip is like saling your life to eliminoty. Once you take tha chip u can't give it back in exchange for you soul the damage is already done and you will rot in hell. DO NOT TAKE THE CHIP. But other wise everyone calm down the world will notend till god says so. Oh yea if u dnt take the chip god wil say you are faithful to him and only him u will be in heavon andpreteced by him for eternel life.
This makes alot of sense now. If you think about it then its very unlikely that the world government is keeping anything from us governments a the Mayan calendar was the worst thing for me but now that I know that its better. No body knows when the world will end but it will someday. And to all you people who are going on about God. Will 2012 happen, people have been wrong before. There is still a chance, there is always a chance that the end of the world could happen!!!!! The only way we can be sure is when 2012 does arrive and we can see if something does happen???
